Audi A4 multitronic judder at low speeds, is it worth fixing or should I just cut my losses?

I've got a 2014 Audi A4 that I bought second hand a couple years ago and it's been a pretty solid daily driver for the commute between Sharjah and Dubai but over the last month or so I've noticed this really annoying judder when I'm creeping along in traffic on King Faisal Road, like the transmission can't quite decide what it wants to do at low speeds and sometimes it feels like it's slipping for a split second before it catches. I took it to a general garage near Rolla and the mechanic there plugged in his little scanner and said it's throwing a code for the transmission control module and that these multitronic CVT boxes are basically a ticking time bomb once they start acting up and he suggested I either find a used gearbox from Sharjah Industrial Area or just sell the car as is to someone who exports to Africa. I really like the car otherwise and the engine still pulls strong and the AC is ice cold which is non negotiable out here, so I started digging around online and found a few places that claim to specialize in Audi Gearbox Repair Sharjah and apparently they can rebuild the valve body or replace the clutch packs without swapping the whole unit which sounds a lot more appealing than rolling the dice on a mystery used transmission from a scrapyard. Has anyone actually gone down the rebuild route with one of these CVTs and had it last more than a few months before the same problem came back or am I just delaying the inevitable by not selling it and moving on to something with a traditional torque converter automatic?
